In commemoration of the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION (24 January), NIMO Care carried out an educational Campaign at Government High School Great Soppo, engaging students under the global theme “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.” The activity brought together a total of 210 students, comprising 155 girls and 55 boys, drawn from the school’s secondary and higher level.
The session focused on helping students understand education not as a one-way delivery system, but as a shared responsibility between learners, educators, institutions, and the wider community. Co-creating education was explained as the active involvement of young people in shaping how they learn through participation, dialogue, creativity, feedback, leadership, and peer collaboration rather than being passive recipients of instruction.
During the engagement, students explored who qualifies as a youth, broadly defined as young people in the developmental stage of life marked by growth, learning, innovation, and social awareness. Common characteristics of youths, such as energy, curiosity, adaptability, creativity, and a strong desire for change, were highlighted, alongside the immense potential they possess to influence positive educational outcomes.
Discussions emphasized why youth participation in co-creating education is critical: it improves relevance, strengthens ownership of learning, promotes inclusion, and prepares young people for leadership and civic responsibility. Practical ways youths can participate through school clubs, peer mentoring, community service, innovation, advocacy, and collaboration with teachers were also discussed.
The visit reinforced NIMO Care’s commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive education, while inspiring students to see themselves as key stakeholders in shaping the future of education.
